I have very limited access to wifi here, so I will have to be quick…
Yesterday, we drove from Nimes to the tiny little town of Aix-les-Bains. Aix-les-Bains sits on a beautiful lake, nestled between green mountains. Unfortunately, no photos yet, as we drove through pretty quickly to get to meet Simone. Simone, who has been very gracious in letting us stay in her apartment, gave us such a warm, wonderful welcome, complete with amazingly delicious homemade bread (including gluten-free for my mom!) and brioche…
Unfortunately smells can’t transmit through photos…
We then attended the Aix-les-Bains meeting (in French!) which I surprisingly understood about 75% of. Then, a wonderful family in the congregation invited us over with others. It was fun getting to know the friends in Aix-les-Bains and once again give my French a workout…
The friends of Aix-les-Bains. By the way, the brother who owns this house is also a Physical Therapist!
After a nice night’s rest, we were ready to begin today’s adventures. We had a nice breakfast of croissants and pain au chocolat, and then headed to the town center to do a bit of shopping. I surprisingly exercised a little bit of self-control – a bit, as I did buy a few things. 🙂 Afterwards, we drove through the French Alps into Switzerland and the city of Geneva. Here’s a few photos from the area:
The landmark of Geneva – the Jet de l’Eau (manmade)
By the way, Switzerland is ridiculously expensive. $20 for lunch, $7 for a Starbucks latte (my standard for judging the cost of living in different countries), etc., etc… Thankfully it was just a day visit, I don’t know if we could have afforded much more…
Felt a little guilty about forgetting to bring Boo out in Switzerland, so he gets a great seat for the ride back to France
Tomorrow: Mont Blanc!
I’m so jealous!
